Dear Parents/Guardians, here are the Glen Ames News Updates for November 27th, 2015
Grade 7 French Immersion Teacher Change
A formal letter was sent to Grade 7 French Immersion parents/guardians this week. On Tuesday, December 1st, Mme Khadija Chatar will return from her maternity leave and assume the teaching responsibilities in Mathematics and Drama/Dance and Visual Arts for the Grade 7 French Immersion classrooms.
We would like to thank Mr. Alin Mihaila for his service at Glen Ames Senior Public School as the long term occasional teacher. He has made a positive impact in his short time here and we wish him the very best in his future teaching endeavors. His last day with us will be Monday, November 30th.
Students held a ‘thank you and farewell’ party for him yesterday. You will be missed Mr. Mihaila!
School Council Speaker Series
“Parenting the Social Media Generation”
Monday, November 30th at 7:30 p.m.
Glen Ames cafeteria (following the School Council meeting)
Do you sometimes feel like you don’t have the full picture on your kids’ social media activities? Steve Chapelle (www.stevechapelle.ca) has been providing internet safety education to Ontario parents and students since 2006. In this dynamic presentation, tailored to parents/guardians, Steve will talk about methods and features for improving privacy and minimizing risk to children and the family, including social media activities from an Android and iOS perspective.
We’d like to know how many parent/guardians will be coming to this Speaker Series Presentation. Please CLICK HERE to let us know if you’ll be joining us on November 30th at 7:30 p.m. Your response is anonymous as we are only tracking numbers for attendance purposes.
In your travels through Glen Ames, you will soon see inspirational quotes on the walls of our school. This is another wonderful initiative, intended to brighten the spirits of everyone here, and brought to you by our Mental Health and Wellness Committee. This group, under the guidance of Ms. Jurmain, continues to plan events, and help open the conversation, around mental health. Coming in the New Year, there are plans to have a Mental Health and Wellness Day. Stay tuned for more information.
